Why DuckDuckGo is My Go-To Browser and Search Engine

The other often-asked question I get is about my favourite browser. For me, it’s hands down DuckDuckGo. It’s my default browser and search engine, with Firefox as my backup. If you’re anything like me, you probably care about your privacy online, and that’s where DuckDuckGo really shines.

First off, let’s talk about the elephant in the room: privacy. In a world where it feels like everyone’s watching your every move online, DuckDuckGo is like that mate who always has your back. They don’t track you, they don’t collect your personal data, and they definitely don’t sell your info to advertisers. It’s a breath of fresh air, really. I can search for whatever I fancy without worrying about being bombarded with ads that seem to know me better than I know myself! My settings are configured to clear memory after a few minutes of inactivity, and it has a cool fire icon that lets me clear all the cache with just a click of a button.

Then there’s the simplicity of it all. The interface is clean and straightforward, which is a massive plus. I don’t need any bells and whistles; I just want to find what I’m looking for without any fuss. I’ve found that I can get the info I need without having to sift through a load of irrelevant junk.

Another thing I love is the “bangs” feature. If you’re not familiar, it’s a nifty little trick that lets you search directly on other sites by using shortcuts. For example, typing “!amazon” followed by your search term takes you straight to Amazon’s search results. It’s a time-saver and makes browsing a lot more efficient.

So, if you’re still using a search engine that tracks your every click, maybe it’s time to give DuckDuckGo a whirl. It’s not just about searching; it’s about searching smartly and safely. Trust me, once you make the switch, you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner!

I’ll be sharing more ways I use DuckDuckGo and Firefox in the coming weeks!
