My Data Security Ecosystem
Lately, I’ve been getting a lot of questions about how I keep my data secure. So, I thought I’d share my go-to data security ecosystem that I’ve been using since 2017—Proton. Here’s how I use their services to keep my digital life safe and sound. Some of the services are new and have only recently been added to the Proton ecosystem.
First up is Proton Mail, my email service of choice. What I love about it is that it offers end-to-end encryption, which means only the people I’m emailing can read my messages. Not even Proton Mail can peek at what I’m saying! The interface is super user-friendly, and I can even send encrypted emails to folks who don’t use Proton Mail. Plus, I can set messages to self-destruct after a certain time, which is just cool. It gives me peace of mind knowing my conversations are private.
Next, I use Proton Drive for all my file storage needs. It’s like my personal vault in the cloud! Everything I upload is encrypted before it leaves my device, so only I can access it. The interface is easy to navigate, and I can share files securely with others while keeping control over who sees what. If I ever need to revoke access, I can do that too. It’s all about keeping my data safe! They’ve now started to introduce Proton Docs, which is a brilliant alternative to Google Docs.
Managing my schedule is a breeze with Proton Calendar. Unlike other calendar apps that might track my events for ads, Proton Calendar keeps everything private. All my events are encrypted, so I know my plans are just for me (and anyone I choose to share them with). I can share my calendar with friends or family without worrying about them seeing everything. It integrates perfectly with my other Proton services, making it super convenient.
To keep my online activities private, I use Proton VPN. This service encrypts my internet connection, which is a must when I’m on public Wi-Fi or just browsing at home. It keeps my data safe from prying eyes, and I love that it has a strict no-logs policy—meaning no one is tracking what I do online. Plus, I can choose from different server locations around the world, which is great for accessing content that might be blocked in my area. It’s like having a digital cloak of invisibility!
Last but not least, I use Proton Pass to manage my passwords. Let’s be real—keeping track of all those passwords can be a nightmare! Proton Pass helps me generate strong passwords and stores them securely. Everything is encrypted, so I don’t have to worry about anyone getting into my accounts. It also has features like password sharing and alerts for any security issues, which is super helpful. I feel way more secure knowing my passwords are in good hands.
To truly keep your data yours, you often have to pay for it. We’re all paying for our data one way or another—either by shelling out for services that prioritise our privacy or by giving up our data for free services that monetise our information. I’ve chosen to subscribe to Proton’s unlimited service because I believe in investing in my privacy. It’s worth it to me to know that my data isn’t being sold or exploited. That said, Proton does offer free versions of their products too, so you can still enjoy a level of privacy without a subscription.
So, that’s my data security ecosystem! By using Proton’s services—Proton Mail, Proton Drive, Proton Calendar, Proton VPN, and Proton Pass—I’ve created a solid setup that keeps my information safe and private. It’s all about taking control of my digital life, and I feel way more confident knowing I have these tools at my disposal.
If you’re looking for ways to secure your data, I definitely recommend checking out Proton. It’s been a game-changer for me, and I’m happy to share my experience! Remember, paying for privacy is an investment in your peace of mind.
